TOKYO, October 23, 2017, Japanese Organization for Medical Device Development, Inc. medical device incubator and innovator (Head Office: Chuo-ku Tokyo; President & CEO Takahiro Uchida; hereinafter, “JOMDD”) executed a capital increase of approximately US$5.4M through third-party allocation of shares to Kawasumi Laboratories, Inc. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director & President Yoshio Sakaya; hereinafter, “Kawasumi”) and Sumitomo Bakelite Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director & President Shigeru Hayashi; hereinafter, “Sumitomo Bakelite”). The funding will enable JOMDD to strengthen the global sales expansion of its in-house devices, and proceed with the commercialization of collaborative projects currently in development. JOMDD will accelerate the growth of its “Healthcare Innovation Platform” through the proactive implementation of innovations in medical technologies that are predicted to be in demand – Regenerative Medicine, Genomic Analysis, Medical IT, Robotics and AI.
Additionally, through a strategic alliance with Kawasumi, Japan’s pioneer of disposable medical devices, and Sumitomo Bakelite, an innovator in the plastics industry, JOMMD will drive the global growth of Japan-engineered medical devices; continuing to strive towards realizing its vision, “Delivering Japan’s Medical Innovations to the World.”
